This site is home to My Blog, Collections (personal intimate family letters, life stories, and narratives), Top Picks (my list of recommended reads, baby products, movie reviews etc.) and The Chronicles of Buntah.

What's a Buntah? Technically, as a biological unit of nature, Buntah is a Toad. As a person, Buntah is a very active and interactive part of our family. And like everyone else in the family - except maybe Ginger the Border Collie who is pure Sweetheart - Buntah has ATTITUDE! "The Chronicles of Buntah - Diary of a Captive Toad" explains her induction into the family - from HER view point of course, because she always prefers her own point of view. She also has her own Blog (which I suspect may be payback for bringing her in from the wild), she has a free voice and uses it. Toadally Cool Facts is also hosted by her. This page offers everything we've learned about Toads and caring for one. Check out Buntah's Blog and her Chonicles. You just may fall in love with her like everyone else has.

Me? I'm Darcy. And I've been a storyteller and journalist all my life. For over two years I was one of the most popular journalists on a Women's Only social networking site. A little over a year ago, the moderators of that site decided to do away with the extremely popular and successful "Journal" section. They lost a lot of followers and participants in that move. I still frequent that site for the friendships but decided to create a place for my own voice - this Blog. My followers, of which there are many (the only reason you won't find a "visitor counter" or a "Friends Roll" anywhere on my site is because, to have those two items maintained here, you have to agree to allow the companies that do the maintaining a free reign with ads and pop-ups. I don't want my site cluttered with ads or pop-ups I may not endorse. This is a place to read and connect intimately, not be overwhelmed with electronic marketing), have admitted to laughing out loud, rolling their eyes with me and shedding a tear or two. Some of the comments I receive are so personal they're not for the general public.

You won't find me/us on Facebook or Twitter - I don't Tweet. Not because I'm anti-social or anti-friend, but because anything I want EVERYONE to know will be posted here in my Blog and within my site. (I believe that's called shooting myself in the EXPOSURE foot.) If you like what you see, I hope you spread the word!!

Yikes!. . . . . . . . I’ve been captured by humans. I do not wish to provoke their ire. There are two of them, who except for size are remarkably similar. There is also a Ginger – who looks a LOT like a dog to me! My cell has no doors, no windows and barely enough dirt to cover the bottom. They call it “The Cooler”. Two wire racks have been strategically placed over the top of the cell to block any attempt at escape. I have not received a single meal. Apparently they have not read the guidelines published by the CEFTT (Coalition for Ethical and Fair Treatment of Toads). While their treatment of me, so far, has not been unkind or threatening, they are uneducated and inept. There has been much talk about what to do with me.

"Friggin Looser!"

Our old car had a name. We called her GemmaStar. GemmStar was a Drama Queen. She liked attention, especially when she felt the need for a melt-down. Her final performance, was, over the top, hot damn, shazamm!

Letter to granddaughter about what her mother, my daughter, was like as a girl. Letter to be given granddaughter when she is a teenager.

Dearest Autumn,
It’s probably hard for you to think of your mother as anything but “Mom”. She did, in fact come to me, like you came to her, as a baby. I watched her turn child, turn teenager, turn woman before my eyes. She was, and still is, personality SHAZaaAAaaM from day one. And just like you, her spirit filled whatever space it was in. She came with two speeds and two speeds only, slow drip and full throttle.

WARNING: Your baby is currently participating in an intensive training program called, “Baby Boot Camp” (BBC). The sole objective of this boot camp is to prepare YOUR child for life with you – “The Parental Unit.” A copy of the program outline was obtained by the PUFFD (Parental Units For Fair Disclosure) during a covert (had to be, BBC wouldn’t play fair) operation.

"The Hobo"

I didn't start out as a Hobo. My Daughter turned me into one. She loves to play the board game “Life”. I do not. I REALLY do not. She broke me with “THE CHIPMUNK FACE”. . . . . . . . . . how bad could it be? I thought to myself. God has a sense of humor. Sometimes He likes to entertain Himself at our expense.

"Attack of the Christmas Elf Assassin's"

The Christmas Nativity, pretty basic right? Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus inside the stable. Angels over here, Shepherds over there and there, animals roaming about, and Wisemen, all very dignified worshiping at the cradle Of the Babe. Everybody knows their part and place. How could something this basic and standard be anything different? This is how. I left my teenage daughter in charge of setting it up.

Excerpt . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Joseph and a Wise Man lay face down side by side on the stable floor. A shepherd lay face down in one of the stalls. Another of the Wise Men was trapped, looking frantic and lost in the stall reserved for the cows. Tradition says the animals were cozy and warm in the stable. In this interpretation, they were positioned above the stable along the edge of the roof in what looked like a police line-up.
