I got to tend Scotty today, I LOVE that kid! He's the coolest two year old since my son was two. His favorite game is "Go See?" We "Go See" anything and everything he wants to show me. In and out of the house, to the gate, to the sliding doors, to the back yard, checking holes in the ground, the color of flowers and leaves, finding the dogs and the whole time he is chattering and chattering as if he were an adult and we were having an adult conversation. When we stand still he checks my stance then mimics it. When we sit, he does the same thing. Today I thought I'd test him, changed up my strides. Big high steps, short bendy stomping ones and sure enough he tried to match it. He is adorable. He knows his colors, he counts and today I learned he knows animal sounds. There were a few animals he didn't know - goose, snake, turkey, bumble bee and bunny rabbit so we increased his animal vocabulary. We did "Go See" and "More Animal Sounds" over and over and over. I don't mind. Makes me feel like a Grandma - which I am, but I don't get to see my granddaughters very often, they live in another state. He is a fresh breeze through my heart.
Don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble, but I know for a fact, from first hand experience, that the whole "Mary Poppins - getting lifted into the sky when it's windy," thing is a LIE! What really happens in a big gust of wind is that your umbrella gets popped inside out! Further, if it's raining you get SOAKED! Face and all! Annd, it aint fun! Rain, rain, rain - we've had it non-stop in varying degrees from drizzle to downpour for the last eight days straight and I've had enough!! Weatherman proclaims rain for the next three days too. Everybody says, "Oh, you should be happy, we need the rain." OK, that’s nice and all, but my problem is I am currently without a vehicle so anytime I need to go anywhere, guess what, I'm getting rained on! Need groceries? Get rained on. Need a prescription filled? Get rained on. Catch a bus? That's right, waiting in the rain. Walk the dog, getting’ rained on. Walk my daughter to school, we BOTH get rained on! Getting the picture? I can't even do laundry without getting rained on - no washer and dryer, have to go outside and cross the parking lot. The other disturbing thing that comes with this much rain is WORMS! The slimy little suckers are all over my porch and even getting into the house!! I've tried really hard to maintain a positive attitude about this whole situation but today my good humor has run dangerously thin. My head, no, my DRIPPING head is about ready to POP! I'm sick of soppy jeans stuck to my legs, sick of soaked coats, sick of wind-blown dripping hair, cold soggy feet and worms in my entry way sliming themselves all over the place! Had to vent before I blew.
