Oddly enough, for about an hour and half before the game I was the very picture of calm and serene. Even had a soft smile on my face. Piper was in her room, no loud music, no Sherlock or Dr. Who, only the soft hum of the floor fan nearby the kitchen. I'd made Orange Cinnamon Rolls and had them baking. I stood at the kitchen counter cutting cantaloupe and honey dew melon to take with us for game time snacks. I felt the soothing warmth of the oven, breathed in the aroma of orange rolls mingling with the fresh earthy scent of melons and for an hour all was well with the world. Everything in balance, everything as it should be. I don't have enough of those moments in my life anymore - at least not lately. Gotta work on the balance of things of things in my world. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and get gloves!!
If every 49er's game this season is like the one we watched yesterday against the Green Bay Packers, I will have to wear gloves! I have a nervous habit of messing with my cuticles during moments of highly charged angst and excitement and yesterdays game was one of THOSE games. On your feet, on the edge of your seat, shouting at the screen, WTF's and high fives, yeeeesssss, one of THOSE games. Seriously gonna get gloves before next Sundays game - Whew! But then what will I do to calm my nervous twitch? It's no wonder most everybody who watches pro-football drinks beer - I get it! But I won't be drinking while watching the games, I have to drive to see the games, won't drink and drive. Truth be told, I wouldn't want to subdue the moments either. I like feeling alive and revved!
