Did I like it? I have HATED all zombie movies until this one, that's why I was sooooooo reluctant to go. The story is predictable of course. You know going in that Brad Pitt is going to kick ass and save the day, you just know it, and so he does. I appreciated the fact that there wasn't a lot of time dedicated to watching zombies stagger around endlessly, stupidly looking for someone to eat. I appreciated there weren't a lot of close-ups or time spent on blood and gore. While the relationship between Pitt and his on-screen wife was sweet, the movie on a whole lacked emotional zing for me. The action was continual and intense and on the whole I found it entertaining and was glad I went. We will probably end up owning it when it comes out to buy and I might possibly see it again in theater.
The thing I found most interesting though, were the crowds coming in to the theater for this show. Three different and very distinct fan types. There were the teenagers who were there for the zombies. There were the grown men in groups of two's or three's - never more than three, and then there was the Brad Pitt crowd. The Brad Pitt crowd were the groups of older women, say aged between 35 and 50 and came as twosome's or in large herds. Yep that's pretty much how it played out in Will's theater as well. He went with two friends.
