I hardly know where to start. Mid-afternoon, Ginger was having some trouble on Mom's bed. Mom came to check on her, and just like that, life as I've known it for almost two years has changed. Ginger was having a hard time breathing and calling for help, I think Mom must have heard her with her heart. When Mom saw her, her face fell, I don't know how else to say it. Her eyes filled with water, her color changed, she yelled for Piper and everything was a whirl after that. Mom wrapped Ginger in her special blankie and a towel and they left quickly after making a phone call. Almost four hours later, Mom and Pip staggered into the house alone - nooooo Ginger. Only her collar and her harness. I don't understand it. Mom would never leave Ginger anywhere alone and certainly not without her collar or harness.
I heard sobbing in the kitchen, both Mom and Pip. Mom eventually came into her bedroom, babbling, crying, clutching at blankets piled on her bed. She picked up the soft pink blanket Ginger has been sleeping on lately, pulled it into her heart and collapsed over the side of the bed. Her body was shaking, she groaned and sobbed and rocked back and forth and the water never stopped running from her eyes. I have never see such anguish, such agony, such hurt. And where was Ginger?! Ginger should be here by her side licking her face, licking her hand, laying next to her. Where was Pip? Someone should be trying to comfort Mom! I tried to get through the glass but I couldn't. Piper showed up, clutching Ginger's collar tightly in her hand. Mom shared Ginger's pink blankie with Pip and the two of them laid side by side holding onto each other and Ginger's blanket and sobbed. Something bad has happened to Ginger or she would be here.
