I'm helping Piper study for a big mid-term exam. I'm a really good helper, can you tell? She says I give her energy, help her focus and bring her good luck. But of course I do.
Well wouldn't you know it, Mom actually finished a project. She finished the practice painting she was working on of the Three Little Pigs And The Vegan Wolf. If you ask me, which My Humans do quite frequently, it wasn't her best work. It looks like she stopped having fun with it and it shows. She said she was feeling confined, that she was tired of painting in such a small confined space. So over the weekend, she found a place where she could buy LARGE sheets of newsprint paper for an excellent price. "Need to practice big," she said, "make big swooping, swooshing moves." And that's exactly what she did. She taped the big sheets of paper to the sliding glass door, grabbed her charcoal sticks and went bonzo, burserck BIG! Big swooshes, slashes, swoops and squiggles. And she smiled the whole time. When she finally came in, it was with a big happy sigh, "Ahhhhhhhh, that feels much better," and I got to snuggle with a happy, contented, chocolate eating, almost purring Mom. It doesn't get better than that. Next project? She's making birthday cards for two of her grand daughters. She's also been doing practice grids. Big piece of mixed media paper, divided down the middle long and short ways, she does a practice stroke of some kind using watercolors on one side and the same strokes with Acrylic on the other. She says it helps her decide which media she wants to use for each different aspect of her painting projects. She likes the side by side comparisons and she labels everything. Seems like a smart move. But it also seems like it's just postponing the book projects. Like I said, My Humans frequently ask my opinion but they don't always do what I think they should be doing. Toads were much easier, Humans are complicated!!
