Later in the night, two days ago, Mom and Pip settled me between them and told me about Ginger. They had taken her to the vet. They don't know if it was another seizure or the thing in her tummy bursting, but Ginger's body systems had begun to fail and her lungs were filling with fluid. She could not be saved. Mom said Ginger was suffering so she had the doctor stop her heart. Mom says, Ginger as we have known and loved her will never be coming home. Her body, after it is taken care of will come home in a special box. I don't want a box - I want GINGER! I want my friend!!!
Mom and Pip want Ginger too. They have cried for two days now. If toads could cry, I would be crying with them. Nothing is the same. Everything is empty and off balance. Who will take Mom out for walks now? Who will greet Mom and Pip at the door? Who will talk to me when I get lonely? Who will watch over us? Our world has changed.
