That's me on the left, the cute one playing The Peeking game with Mom. Ha, that's me on the right too - wow, we really need to update these pics, and there are so many too choose from! Bet you can't tell Mom and Pip think I'm adorable and fascinating! So, it's a New Year, 2015 Mom says. That doesn't mean a whole to me in my world. As long as I get played with, cuddled, and my food on time I'm good. It seems to be a big deal to my humans though, they had to celebrate. Honestly, I think they like celebrating and will look for any excuse to do so. The Christmas tree is up again and as usual it's really pretty. I like all the different colors. THIS year, Mom made a special ornament for the tree and put MY picture on it. They put my ornament next to the ones they have of Ginger and all the grand kids. That's when you KNOW you are loved - when you get put on the tree. Don't ask me why we haven't blogged for months, I couldn't really say. Except that Mom was very busy and for more than half that time she couldn't write at all. Her left hand was tightly wrapped in bandages and she wasn't able to use her hand at all. She was careless in the kitchen she said and got second and third degree burns on the back of her hand. Took the skin right off, I saw it for myself. Pip and I kept a close watch on her and for awhile Pip was in charge of changing the dressings. Human skin is weird anyway, but when it's gone, and what's left is festering, it's really gross. The medicine they put on it smelled horrible too. It stung my nose and made me sneeze so I kept my distance while it was fresh. For our New Year's celebration, Mom and Pip did what they called "Getting Their Tolkien On". First thing December 31st, New Year's Eve Day, they watched The Hobbit on DVD. The second that movie was over they put in The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug. The second THAT movie was over they ran down to the theater to watch the last Hobbit movie. (which they'd both already seen three and four times each.) They returned immediately and watched the entire Lord Of The Rings trilogy - which I joined them for. This was all planned out very carefully in advance and as close to the minute as possible. Mom even fixed all the food the day before so all they had to do was heat it up during battle scenes. SIX movies over a seventeen and a half time spread (the LOTR trilogy is all extended version - of course don't ya know). Were they glad they did it? Yes. They both said it was a lovely way to end 2014 and begin 2015. Would they do it again? Yes also. Only next time it won't be the extended versions, that was a bit much they said. Ya think? The Return of The King extended version is four hours and ten minutes long!!! Cripes! In case you haven't figured it out, my family - ALL of them, are huge fans of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. I don't understand it all that much myself. What matters to me is that my family loves me enough to include me in what they love. Oh, oh, oh! And I got a MOBILE HOME for Christmas!!! Mom says technically it's called a pet carrier, but it will have all the amenities I require for travel - substrate, a water dish, a cave and plants. Haven't used it yet - WAITING ON MOM AS USUAL!!! She says she still has a few things to get for it, but once it's furnished I get to go for rides! Will let you know when we're rolling!! |
